SS05 – AI Wooden Man Post for Senior Citizens

Facing the population ageing in coming decades, to keep our senior citizens robust and resilient, a ‘wooden man post’ has been designed by the teachers and students from Hong Kong Teachers’ Association Lee Heng Kwei Secondary School by integrating artificial intelligence into it to train our respectable senior citizens five main abilities from memory, eye-hand coordination, attention, mental Math to judging capacities through learning and applying Wing Chun, a traditional Chinese martial art, by ‘fighting’ with the wooden man post in which different kinds of devices are installed inside this man to help attain all important goals. Throughout the training, the AI device first records each users’ heart rate and other health indicators which are transmitted to the elderly’s family members connected via its app. It also utilizes a countdown and score system for the clinical evaluation of every golden ager whose well-being will be synthesized while moving their bodies and enjoying the fun of playing Wing Chun and its related games by touching the randomly ignited sensors on the screen divided into different sections, creating stronger interest and interaction for the elders to embrace the pleasure and keep the momentum of strengthening their bodies and minds consistently and progressively.
