Due to their busy lifestyle, there are 2 main food-related problems in Hong Kong, the citizens’ irregular diets and the accumulation of expired food due to impulsive purchases. To tackle the issues, an app called “F.O.O.D.wise” is proposed to record the durability period of products. F.O.O.D.wise allows users to record the expiration date of food. Notifications will be made when the food is close to expiry. Moreover, users are provided with a personalized diet by entering their body conditions. Diseases like diabetes can be alleviated. Users can top up in the app to decorate their simulated home. The profits will be used to support the underprivileged with food purchases. It is hoped that F.O.O.D.wise is able to raise awareness of food waste and the needs of the underprivileged.
