SS04 – Intelligence paper detection bin

The objective of the bin is to encourage people to recycle paper products. It seeks to address the following question. Almost everyone will not classify their garbage. Although there are existing smart recycling bins in society that will be launched in 2021 by the government, recycling technology can add AI technology to increase recycling efficiency, The function of the recycling bin would be to distribute different types of paper products, classify the paper whether it can be recycled or not, if the paper is not be allowed to recycle, like staples, paper clip and the aluminum paper and plastic on the paper package drinks. After the user puts the paper into the recycling bin and the recycling bin stores the paper, the user can get a reward according to the paper weight. The recycling bin would like to have a scanner and reader for the reward function, and the camera would like to detect the types of paper by image recognition.

SS09 – Colourful Seniors

“Colourful Seniors” aims to encourage seniors to maintain good health to live a colorful life. A computer exercise program is developed to help seniors learn simple exercises. As opposed to traditional exercises, the program also aims to take care of the mental health of the elderly by enabling them to connect with the trendy social happenings. To instill lively energy, the program will focus on the trendy exercise / dance, such as “科目三”, Jisoo’s Flower dance, etc. AI image recognition is used to guide the correct postures. To keep the seniors engaged and motivated, seniors could create avatars if they pass through certain exercise requirements. The program also aims to further strengthen the brain memory of the elderly. The exercise program has follow up games to reinforce what they have learned. To give the elderly sense of achievement, the platform allows reciprocal offerings where the elderly can also teach the younger ones. For better training effects, the exercise trainer and games can be projected via a hologram. With the exposure to state-of-the-art technology, it can also take care of the mental health of the elderly by giving them a sense of privilege, versus being deprived of new things in the world.

SS11 – PharmaShield

Medication mistakes can cause catastrophic consequences. Pharmacists are crucial in ensuring medication safety by reviewing prescriptions, assessing potential interactions, and providing patients counseling. However, there is a chance that they make blunders. According to an article posted on HK01 in 2021, a pain patient with aspirin sensitivity was prescribed the same anti-inflammatory analgesic, causing discomfort and sensitivity. The Hospital Authority noted that healthcare workers did not associate the two drugs. Our AI program relied on an autoencoder model, which is an artificial neural network that is designed on how the human brain processes information. Also, it includes data mining techniques to analyze prescription records, electronic health records, and other healthcare data sources. By using this model, it could simplify pharmacy workflow, minimize administrative burden, and frees pharmacists to focus on patient care. To make the AI programme to indicate all kinds of drug-drug interactions, it is needed to label data from thousands of drugs and millions of different combinations of possible interactions. In summary, the optimization models consider factors like lead time, inventory costs and service levels to determine the optimal stocking levels for different drugs. Consequently, it can predict drug demand, optimize inventory management, and maintain adequate stock levels.

SD14 – Rat Colony Detector

Rat infestation has been a long-standing problem for humans, especially in high-density cities such as Hong Kong. In addition, the structure of vertical cities makes the problem more complicated. One of the main reasons is that rats can obtain food from restaurants, but humans lack ways to eradicate them. Eventually, the mice continue to multiply and maintain a certain number. The purpose of this project (Rat Colony Detector) is to provide an effective way to eliminate rats. By installing a GPS and altimeter on the mouse, the mouse’s path can be tracked. We also collected data on the gathering, work and rest of rats, and finally estimated and discovered the nest. At the same time, through visual images, it provides citizens and rodent exterminators with visibility and understanding of the severity of rodent infestation in the area. This move is expected to narrow the scope of rodent control, reduce the cost of rodent control, and greatly improve the effectiveness of rodent control.
